Projektet:Empowering of Archaeology Volunteer Network Cooperation with Museums” med titlen: “Zemyna” har to hovedformål. Det første formål er at etablere senior voluntør samarbejde og udveksle viden om, hvordan man kan udvikle samarbejde mellem senior voluntører og museer samt arkæologer i kaunasområdet, Litauen og det fynske område, Danmark.

Det andet formål er, gennem ”best practice eksempler” spejling at udvide viden, metoder og organisering af det arkæologiske arbejde i begge partnerområder.Som udgangspunkt for dette vil Skandinavisk – Baltisk forhistorisk sameksistens blive brugt med det videre formål at etablere et fremtidigt samarbejde i emnet mellem senor voluntører i det to lande.

Der vil være følgende faser:

1.    Forberedelse til at sende voluntører på udveksling, opbygning af netværk, organisering af ophold, e-mailsamarbejde, studiekredse om forhistorisk arkæologi og arkæologisk arbejde.

2.    Udveksling af voluntører til og fra Litauen og Danmark indeholdende introduction til, hvordan man styrer et museum – og muligheder for voluntørarbejde – arkæologisk metode, analyse af arkæologisk materiale, forberedelse af udstillinger, detektorsøgning, arkæologisk kortlægning.

3.    Evaluering. Bånd vil blive knyttet for fremtidigt samarbejde og udveksling. Spredning gennem hjemmeside, en bog, foredrag i arkæologiske foreninger i begge lande.

The project “Organization and empowering of senior network associations in history and archaeology volunteer work connected to museums” has two main aims. The first aim is to establish volunteer organization in history and archaeology for seniors - with democratic rules and structures - in and around Kaunas, Lithuania and to use history and archaeology with close cooperation with professional museums and archaeologist in Lithuania - and in Denmark and through best practice examples and mirroring to improve the organization of amateur history and archaeology work on Funen, Denmark.

The primary content is to improve knowledge about Scandinavian and  Baltic historic and prehistoric co-existence with the purpose of future cooperation between the two friendship cities Kaunas (Lithuania) and Odense (Denmark) on this topic.

It is the intention in this way to establish a continued learning environment for seniors in the historical fields as an example of good and natural volunteer learning environment for seniors. Hereby to create open international communication of senior age volunteers, by improving their social cooperation and networking skills. Furthermore the project will share senior age volunteering practice using web and publishing options and tools.

The project will consist of the following phases.

1. Preparation to send volunteers on volunteer exchange, which consists of network building, collection of best practice examples and organizing presentation of these, organizing host families, organizing portfolio, e-mail cooperation, study circle in both countries on history of the partner country.

 2. Exchange of volunteers from Lithuania to Denmark and from Denmark to Lithuania in two periods of each 3 – 4 weeks. The exchange will consist of introduction to and work as volunteers in museums, archaeological methods and history, gathering and analysis of archaeological material, preparation of exhibitions, detector research, archaeological mapping, how to run a museum and possibilities for volunteer work.

 3. Evaluation will take place in both groups and the end of each exchange and after the exchanges, and bonds will be tied between the groups for further exchanges. Dissemination happens through organizing volunteer groups/organizations in Lithuania and in Denmark to establish volunteer groups with focus on Danish – Lithuanian, Baltic archaeology.
